It's funny how quickly plans can change. When I wrote that post, I was trying to settle into retirement, but it just wasn't working for me. I accepted a challenging job shortly after writing that post, and had a very fulfilling four years as principal of an elementary school -- during the pandemic, to boot! I am now retired again, and I have learned a few things along the way.
First, I am too wordy. I'll be making my posts shorter. (You're welcome!)
Second, having a book club is really important. Reading is one thing -- talking about what you read is quite another. Find someone to share your books with and read as much as you can! My sisters and I have had a book group since Feb. 2018 -- and have read 56 books together!
Third, it's okay to slow down and enjoy life without having to complete everything on your To Do list for the day. Making time for friends and family is just as important as decluttering your home!
Finally, even though it is sad to say a final good-bye to family and friends, their memory is etched in our hearts. It is important to recognize them and how they have shaped us. When a loved one comes to mind, embrace them in a heavenly hug. Be thankful for the time you had together, and smile.
Did I mention I am including a Gratitude Journal in my resolutions? More later...
Blessings,
Barb
