Request for feedback -- Nov. 28, 2016

Dear Readers,

Now that I have been blogging for six months, it is time for me to get serious. I have written about a lot of different topics, and am trying to find my focus. If you (my loyal readers, friends and family) have any favorites, any comments or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Most of you know me personally, so you may filter the posts by “I know what she really meant.” I'd love to know your thoughts. For those who don’t know me, please let me know if you have any helpful input.

The Three Questions by Jon J. Muth

The Three Questions, based on a story by Leo Tolstoy,
Written and Illustrated by Jon J. Muth

This book is a Children’s book, but it is so well written and meaningful that I recommend it for people of all ages. It has gorgeous water colors that support the text.

The story is of young Nikolai who has three questions burning in his soul –

Let Us Give Thanks

As we approach Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays, it’s a good time to think about gratitude. This year I have heard a lot about Gratitude Journals and having an Attitude of Gratitude, and I thought that we had fully discussed the subject. What more is there to say?

My sister and I were shopping, and she came up with a slant that I had not even thought about. She said, “So who are people giving thanks to?” Pause. Think about it.

Transition -- just the name makes me nervous!

I admit it – I got caught up in the everyday announcements and speculations about the new Cabinet. I heard names being vetted on morning talk shows, and I started to get very nervous. Deep inside, I got bad vibes every time I heard them talk about the Transition. Now I understand -- I am now taking a new view of this -- one that I can identify with.

Ladies, do you remember that horrible few minutes during child birth called TRANSITION? Everything gets out of whack. You don’t know what you want; you just know that you aren’t happy. You snap at your spouse and generally want to climb out of your skin. It’s the time when you say, “I changed my mind – I don’t want to have this baby today!” In a very short time, you go from being pregnant to being a parent.

Thoughts after the Election

Three days after The Election, and the dust has not quite settled. Now that we have a President-Elect, everything looks different. To many, it is a picture of hope; but to many, it is a picture of fear. To whom do we turn for solace or wisdom? For many of us who relied on the media, we now suspect that they are not reliable, since they got the election wrong. In days gone by, we turned to our parents and the voices of experience to help us interpret our disappointments. As an older (but not that old) person, please let me share my observations with you.

Thoughts on Election 2016

Can we all agree that this election can’t come soon enough?! This has been a very long 15 months since we first started watching the primary debates. And I have watched them all!

Because we have heard so much talk-talk-talk, I will make this short and sweet. This election has been very uncomfortable. It has been bitter and ugly. I was raised to look up to political leaders. They make a big sacrifice to be public servants, and they have a unique opportunity to do so much good!
